DRAGONS
FROM THE ID
Though
not the fastest - oft he won: Though not the brightest - yet outshone:
When facing danger - conquered fear: And for his faults - shed many a tear. In
childhood made aware of God Who meted punishment for sins, Forgiven, if
one joined the faith And sang its loud rejoicing hymns. But
truth will out - beliefs aren't facts, His questing mind could hear and see
How fables, myths and ancient gods Pretend away mortality. 'Oh
happy day' - eternal life, No worries pains or fears, In Billy Graham's
Paradise - Winged choirs in heaven's spheres. But
those whose minds are open, clear, Distinguish truth from wishful thought,
Avoiding faith's emotive trap Wherein the vulnerable are caught. As
Santa Claus delights the child So faith excites the trusting mind, But
with maturity dawns light, And fairy tales are left behind. Still
rich imaginations paint Emotive pictures in the mind Evoking phantom worlds
and dreams From half remembered myths and shrines. Where
Satan tempted Man through Eve With knowledge from a magic tree, Whose
curses down the years condemned All those who would not 'bow the knee'. But
Truth, through Reason's common sense Dismantles superstition's reign,
Dissolves implanted guilts and fears As Dragons from the Id are slain. by
